Frontier modem and router

Here are some responses to often asked questions when it comes to Frontier modems and routers to help you get all set up.

FAQs on Frontier Modem and Routers

How is my Internet Equipment Frontier identified?

The modem and router you have obtained from Frontier are based on your plan and specifications. To provide the "performance level" of your internet, Television, and voice services, the exact model was selected. As the equipment is uniquely connected to your account, the first time you activate your service, you will need to use the Frontier Internet equipment provided.

Can I still purchase a modem and router compatible Frontier of my own?

Obviously, yes, you can, but having your own Internet equipment instead of the Frontier modem and router offered implies you're going to sacrifice technological support and other advantages. Frontier does not endorse or fund internet equipment that is not provided. However, the first time you activate your service, you must use the Frontier internet equipment provided.

Having your own internet equipment ensures that your Frontier internet service will not be compatible, you may not be able to take advantage of Frontier technological assistance, and you may not be eligible for a Frontier equipment upgrade. Additionally, even though you are not using it, you will still have to pay the monthly lease charge for a Frontier modem and router.

It seems my internet is slow. How do I get my speed tested?

You can run a speed test to see what your download and upload speeds are if you think your Frontier Internet is not working as optimally as it should be. Bear in mind, however, that the results can be distorted by running a speed test over Wi-Fi or with several devices plugged in. Using an Ethernet cable without any other equipment linked to the network for the most detailed performance.

You may need to restart your modem and router if you're still not having good results. Contact Frontier's Professional Assistance for ongoing issues. They will help you solve the problem or suggest upgrading your equipment.

How do I reboot my modem and router at the Frontier?

The first step to troubleshooting internet problems is normal to restart or reboot your Frontier modem and router. Click the power button or unplug the power cord on your router to restart your modem or router. Then wait 30 seconds and turn it back on or plug it back in.

You can try a factory reset if that doesn't fix the problem. You'll see a Reset button on your router's rear panel. Click and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds using a pen or paper clip. As the lights on the front panel switch off and then start blinking, you'll know it's resetting. When the power light glows, the router finishes rebooting.
