Which Internet Service for Small Businesses Is Right for You?

First and foremost, the best business internet provider for your company is one that services your area. Keep in mind that the deals and prices of providers can differ depending on your location.

On that note, in addition to the 5 providers we've listed, you may want to look at regional business internet service providers. It's likely that they'll have internet speeds on par with the larger companies, but at a lower cost.

If you're unable to commit to a year-long contract, look for a company that provides a month-to-month option or doesn't charge exorbitant early termination fees. That way, your company can develop as much as it wants, as easily as it wants, because the last thing you need to think about is whether or not your internet connection can handle it.

5 Best Internet Service Providers for Businesses

The internet service providers mentioned below are not in any specific order. However, we've determined that these five companies are worth looking at first, based on a few main factors such as regional availability, service rates, customer reviews, pricing, and contract flexibility.

AT&T Business Internet

AT&T provides a few different business internet packages with different speeds and prices. One of their three Dedicated Internet Service packages, which provides customers internet speeds of up to 400 Mbps, is ideal for business owners who want the fastest possible speeds and the most advanced features.

Of course, such super-fast speeds would come at a cost. Dedicated Internet Service packages from AT&T range in price from $993 to $1,770 a month, with contracts ranging from 24 to 36 months. Keep in mind that offer availability and pricing are subject to change depending on your location.

However, if you don't want to spend $1,000 or more on the internet, AT&T still has cheaper options. Look at their AT&T Wireless Internet plan, which offers 50 or 100 GB of data with a 4G LTE wireless router for $60 or $100 per month.

Pro: High-speed internet access is available.

Cons: High-speed plans can be expensive.

Spectrum Business

Spectrum Business provides three download speeds: 200 Mbps, 400 Mbps, and 940 Mbps, with monthly bundles starting at $44.99 a month. Pricing for other download rates, on the other hand, isn't readily available on their website.

The fact that Spectrum Business's internet services are all contract-free is perhaps the best aspect. Spectrum Business charges consumers on a month-to-month basis rather than the traditional one or two-year contracts. So, if your business is rapidly expanding and you foresee the need to renew, there's no need to worry about locking yourself into a multi-year contract and risking early-cancellation fees. Spectrum is also available in 41 states, including Hawaii.

However, keep in mind that the consumer feedback for Spectrum Business isn't exactly glowing.

Pro: Low cost and widespread availability.

Cons: Customer support has received mixed reviews.

Comcast Business Internet

Comcast Business Internet stands out from the pack by providing one of the fastest speeds available with their 1 gig (1,000 Mbps) plan, which is available in 39 states across the country. Comcast Business provides four business internet tiers, ranging from 25 Mbps to 300 Mbps, in addition to this "Blazing Speed" package. If you sign up for their Comcast Business Connection Pro feature, you'll be automatically connected to a 4G LTE wireless backup if your connection goes down.

In order to obtain a quote, you'll need to include your company's address. We were unable to find contract information, but reviewers stated that Comcast has two-year contracts with steep early termination fees. Also, keep in mind that their fastest plan might not be available everywhere.

Pro: Lightning-fast download speeds.

Con: There is a significant early cancellation charge.

Verizon Fios Business

Verizon is the best small and medium business internet service provider for the past six years, which is only one of the reasons Verizon Fios joins the list of the best business internet service providers.

With download speeds ranging from 75 Mbps to 940 Mbps, Verizon Fios Business provides five internet plans. Prices start at $64.99 per month for the first year and go up to $214.99 per month for the first year and $224.99 per month for the second. However, such premiums do not include fees or equipment costs.

Verizon's contracts are all two years long, with an early cancellation fee of 35% of the base monthly charges for the remaining duration.

Verizon Fios Business is only available in select metro areas across nine East Coast states. However, they also sell a variety of phone and internet packages, some of which include a Visa Prepaid Card worth up to $200.

Pro: Excellent customer service and a dependable internet connection.

Con: Service is only available in a few East Coast states.

Frontier Business Internet

Frontier has the slowest internet speeds on this list, with speeds ranging from 7 to 40 Mbps, but their package rates are among the most affordable. And if you're a sole proprietor, have a small staff, or don't rely on your internet service heavily (for example, if you operate a brick-and-mortar store), Frontier's slower speeds might be ideal for you.

Frontier's Business Max + Voice Service package, which costs $49.98 a month for a two-year term, includes 7 Mbps internet speed, free installation, a free WiFi router, and a business phone. The Business Extreme + Voice, their top-tier package, includes the same add-ons as the Business Max + Voice, along with a 30 Mbps internet speed.

Pro: Packages are reasonably priced.

Cons: Low internet speeds are a disadvantage.
